Tackle Your TBR Read-a-thon WRAP UP

The Tackle Your TBR Read-a-thon is hosted by Wishful Endings.

------

MY GOALS

To read 5 books and 1000 pages

------
I would have posted this late last night but my internet/phone decided to stop working and still isn't and I'm currently sitting in the closed library parking lot bouncing off of their wifi. Hopefully my provider will be out to fix everything by the end of tomorrow. :(

I love read-a-thons.  I don't go all out and read at all times of the day, but I love the motivation it gives me to just keep reading and to start a new book shortly after finishing the first.

I did rather well with keeping up in the first week but the weekend was overly busy for me so I basically lost 3 days there. Then, on Thursday, I started 'Frostbite' by Richelle Mead but decided not to continue it after coming across the sentence, "Dmitri examinated the house..." at the beginning of the second chapter. For some reason (probably pregnancy hormones), it bothered me way to much and made me not want to read for a while. I will openly admit that I didn't really like 'Vampire Academy' very much but let others talk me into giving the series another chance. I might try again in the future if 'Frostbite' really is made into a movie but for now I just can't bother as I know it will put me into a reading slump like the first book did last year.

Friday morning I went to drop off my borrowed books from the library and found that 'Scarlet' by Marissa Meyer, which I've had on hold for 3 weeks, finally came in. I really enjoyed 'Cinder' so I started reading it that night.

Overall, I've done a horrible job of keeping up with the actual point of this read-a-thon, though. I only read one book from my personal TBR pile. The rest were sequels that I had checked out for the September Sequels Challenge and one book that had been adapted into a movie that I had planned on reading for a long time. They were all on my Goodreads TBR list, at least, and I suppose the true purpose of any read-a-thon is to just read but I still feel like I failed miserably.

  1. I love read-a-thons too! I also don'r go all out and read like crazy for read-a-thons as I usually don'r have the time to do so even though I don't work + I'd get reading burnout if I did read 24/7. I didn't participate in any of the challenges during this read-a-thon... Now to play catch up on my book reviews! Here's a link to my wrap up post: http://captivatedreader.blogspot.com/2014/09/tackle-your-tbr-read-thon-wrap-up-post.html

    1. I absolutely agree about getting burnt out if we dedicated all of our time to reading, even during read-a-thons! The worst part in participating in read-a-thons (for me at least) is keeping up with the reviews! I always tend to leave one or two til later and then forget to come back to them!

  2. Any reading counted, at least as far as I was concerned. :) I love Scarlet, so I hope you enjoy it! I also hope you get your internet back up. I've had that happen a couple of times and it's such a pain!

    1. I'm really loving The Lunar Chronicles series so far!
Thank you! I had to have my provider come out and completely re-wire everything this morning! It took forever but I'm happy to have my precious internet back! :)
