Synopsis:
The Sea Book explores a wealth of incredible marine animals and their habitats, from up on the ice, down to colorful coral reefs, underwater forests, and right down to the deepest darkest depths where the weird and wonderful lurk.

Following on from The Bee Book, Charlotte Milner continues to highlight to children important ecological issues faced by our planet, this time with a focus on marine life and the damaging effects humans are having on our seas. Children will discover what they can do to help, and there are tips on how to live plastic-free. Children will even get to craft their own recycled shopping bag!

This charming celebration of the sea shows children just how extraordinary our oceans are, and is a reminder that it is up to us to keep it that way.

Our Thoughts:
This fantastic nonfiction book for kids highlights all that is wonderful about the ocean, as well as what ails it, and what we can do to aide it. It shows us how we are connected to the oceans, even when we don't live near them, and how our actions and choices affect the ocean and all of the living things within it.

This educational beauty teaches us all about the oceans of our world and is very engaging with tons to learn, read, or just look at!

There's plenty of absolutely stunning illustrations of all sorts of sea creatures to go along with the educational text that is just the right amount to keep one's attention while remaining fun and interesting.

The last quarter of the book focuses on how the sea is being damaged--by overfishing, pollution, warming seas that bleach coral reefs and melt ice, causing rising sea levels--and how we can make big and small changes to help the ocean.

There's even a DIY tutorial on how to make a reusable tote bag from a t-shirt!

I'm very happy I came across this at the library and will be adding it to our personal library as soon as possible! My four-year-old enjoyed the illustrations and wanted to know what each bit of text was explaining about the photos. I think it's one we will get enjoyment (and knowledge) from for several more years and worth the purchase!
