Stacking the Shelves #17

Stacking the Shelves is a weekly meme hosted by Tynga's Reviews that features the books we bought, borrowed, were gifted, and were given for review.

Thrift Store Finds
This haul cost me a little more than usual but I got two gifts in the process so I'm not as bothered by it. That's what I get for bothering to look for books during the holidays. At least I came away with a nice stack. :)

From top to bottom:

Child of God by Cormac McCarthy
(I've only read 'The Road' but the blurb on the back of this book was pretty interesting)

The Reckoning by Sharon Kay Penman
(A historical novel about medieval England and Wales. I have the 1st book)

This Lullaby by Sarah Dessen
(I've yet to read her books but I now own 3-4 of them)

What I Was by Meg Rosoff
(Author of 'How I Live Now')
(I actually have this same book checked out from the library right now)

Sammy Keyes and the Cold Hard Cash by Wendelin Van Draanen
(I wish I had known how long this series was. I only recognized the author)

The Sherlockian by Graham Moore
(I got this for my younger sister whom LOVES Sherlock)

Killers: The Most Barbaric Murders of Our Time
(I used to have a thing for serial killer books but I don't own any so this is a nice addition to my non-fiction collection.)

The Age of Stonehenge by
(This is also a nice addition to my non-fiction shelves. I love British history.)

Horns by Joe Hill
(I've read this and own it in paperback but I can't pass up hardcover copies of good books.)

Anansi Boys by Neil Gaiman
(One of my fave authors and I couldn't pass up this book even though I already own it. It will make a great holiday gift for my older sister who also loves Gaiman.)

------------

Have you read any of these? What did you add to your shelves this week?

  1. I've been hearing a lot of good things about Gaiman's works. I must pick up one of his books ASAP.

  3. Nice haul.

I have a few Neil Gaiman books on my wish list, but not Anansi Boys. My friend has it, so I'm waiting to hear her thoughts on it.
