Top Ten Songs I Wish Were Books
This topic is a bit tough. There are a few songs that have inspired me to write stories loosely based on them or at least how I interpret them but I can't think of any songs that I could see as full books.
I'm interested in seeing how others interpret this topic!
I will try to include videos with lyrics and explain a little about each song.

Coldplay - Daylight
This one is the theme song for a story I wrote several years ago about a girl who lives in darkness most of her life and 'comes into the light'.
Message to Bears - Mountains
This one tells more of a story in the video than in the lyrics but I love it!
Radiohead - Pyramid Song
This one has an 'afterlife' kind of vibe to it.
Novelle Vogue - Bela Lugosi's Dead
This has a pretty dark macabre vampire-y story to tell.
Moderat - Rusty Nails
I can kind of imagine an angsty tortured love kind of story when listening to this.
Coldplay - Amsterdam
Ever seen Garden State with Zach Braff and Natalie Portman? This song makes me think of that kind of story. Depressed guy meets the love of his life and she saves him.
The National - This is the Last Time
Couldn't find a video with lyrics so here's a link. Another love story with this one.
Lorenna McKennitt - The Highwayman
This is actually a poem by Alfred Noyes and I've been in love with both the poem and this song since I was kid. It inspired a book that I started but haven't finished yet!
music is so great for stories, isn't it? My TTT
ReplyDeleteA+ choices. I loved this week's topic so much. It's also letting me see a different side to all of the wonderful book bloggers. I totally agree with you on the Coldplay songs. I had to steer clear of them this time around, otherwise my entire list would just be Coldplay (not that there's a problem with that ^_^)

Their first 2 albums really speak to me! The 'A Rush of Blood to the Head' album inspired my story that goes along with 'Daylight' (first song listed). And I agree that this topic is allowing us to see a different side to all the bloggers! I'm really enjoying checking out what everyone listens to!
DeleteI like The Highwayman... the video is very atmospheric, and I like how she tells a story with her songs.
ReplyDeleteI love Radiohead! And Pyramid Song would be such a haunting song for a story! Here's hoping you run across a book someday that feels similar to this song.
