Synopsis:
If you had to name a statue, any statue, odds are good you'd mention the Statue of Liberty. Have you seen her?

She's in New York.
She's holding a torch.
And she's in mid-stride, moving forward.
But why?

In this fascinating, fun take on nonfiction, Dave Eggers and Shawn Harris investigate a seemingly small trait of America's most emblematic statue. What they find is about more than history, more than art. What they find in the Statue of Liberty's right foot is the message of acceptance that is essential to an entire country's creation.

Our Thoughts:
Learn all about the Statue of Liberty in this wonderful nonfiction picture book!

Dave Eggers and Shawn Harris have given us a fantastic account of the Statue of Liberty's creation, history, and the symbolic meaning of her right foot which shows our Lady to be in motion.

The statue of Liberty is one of our most iconic landmarks but did you know that it was gifted to the U.S. from the French? Or who designed the interior and exterior of the statue? Or how it gets its blue-green color?

Her Right Foot teaches us all about the statue's creation in France, its journey to America, and its long history of welcoming the masses to our shores. This picture book is a bit long at 104 pages, but there is only a sentence or two paired with each illustration so it is not a very long read.

I would recommend this to anyone who loves history, architecture, or art and wants to know a little more about the Statue of Liberty!
