Taking some time off

As some of you know, I am pregnant with my first little one and am due in early December. I have a ton of things to do, make, clean, research, worry about, etc and blogging on a daily basis is just too much right now. I do spend more time in bed or on the couch and have some time for blogging so I won't be completely MIA but I will be toning it down quite a bit! I also have several spooky books that I want to read and I've been too busy to read all week. Blogging takes away from my reading time so I'd really rather just get through a couple books than worry about whether my posts are finished, updated, and scheduled and if I'm keeping up with the memes.

I started the '31 Days of Spooky Books' posts months and months ago and only pre-wrote and scheduled 7-8 of them. I love Halloween and would love to continue them but I just don't see it happening without dedicating a lot of time to them, so I apologize if there aren't any more posts.

I hope everyone enjoys this lovely fall weather and reads lots of spooky horror novels!

Happy Reading!

31 Days of Spooky Books: Day 6

Day 6

The Graveyard Book
by
Neil Gaiman

I will always recommend Neil Gaiman to anyone looking for something to read. His books are so fresh and 'out there' and overall, fascinating. The Graveyard Book obviously drew me in with my love of the spooky and macabre. It's about a boy whose parents are murdered and he ends up in a cemetery where he is raised from a baby by ghosts, ghouls, and other cemetery dwellers.  I actually thought this book was very similar to Ray Bradbury's 'From the Dust Returned' which was also about a boy raised by spooky creatures.

31 Days of Spooky Books: Day 5

Day 5

From the Dust Returned
by
Ray Bradbury

I read this a few years ago and quite enjoyed the story of the boy who lived in a big house filled with ghosts and ghouls and all other manner of macabre things and beings.

Book Blogger Hop (Oct 3- 9)

The Book Blogger Hop is hosted at Ramblings Of A Coffee Addicted Writer and this week's question is:

Where is the creepiest place you have read a book at?

My Answer:
I haven't read too many books in really creepy places but I've had creepy things happen while reading a book. For instance, once when I was a teenager in my childhood home, I was reading on the living room couch when the rocking chair right next to me started rocking! I was home alone except for my puppy who immediately started barking at it, and there were no doors or windows open to create a breeze. I dropped my book, picked up my puppy and moved to the other side of the room. A few seconds later the rocking chair abruptly stopped mid-rock and my puppy's head moved toward the bedroom hallway and started barking there instead!
I had a lot of 'experiences' in that house as a kid.

31 Days of Spooky Books: Day 4

DAY 4
The Witches
by
Roald Dahl

I had the movie when I was a kid and really loved it. It was my first introduction to Roald Dahl other than perhaps Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (yes, the movie). Then one day I found the book at a thrift store and it quickly became one of my favorites. It's definitely on the lighter side of spooky but I always enjoyed it.
