The Sunday Post #9

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer
It's a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog and showcase books and things you received, share news about what is coming up on your blog for the week ahead, and more.

It's already March and almost a week into the Take Control of Your TBR Pile Challenge! I'd been looking forward to this since I've been reading mostly ebooks and arcs lately. I own a lot of books (older ones anyway) that have been sitting on my shelf for years. I've been distracted by shiny new books and haven't bothered reading any in so long but this challenge is hopefully going to help me with that! It's probably going to be a busy month life-wise, too, what with the Florida Primaries, St. Patty's Day, and the Easter holiday. April will be even busier though so I'm determined to get plenty of reading done this month!

Books I Finished This Week

New Picture Books We Read This Week

We missed our weekly trip to the library and mostly just re-read books we own this week.

What I'm Currently Reading

Heir of Fire by Sarah J. Maas
I'm savoring this one and am taking a break with this series once I finish so I can get to more of my TBR pile and an arc I need to read.

Room by Emma Donoghue
If I hadn't been so busy this weekend I probably would have finished this. I'm already hooked on the story and the unique way that it is written from a 5 year old's point of view!

-----------

I've had several books on hold at the library for months and they all came in yesterday! Now I'm torn between reading the books from the library that I can only keep for 2 weeks or just continue with my TBR goals. It'll probably be another 6 months before I can get these books again so it's a little infuriating!
Does this happen to anyone else?

  1. I read Room a few years ago and I remember feeling hooked too! Kind of want a reread now :)
Read one library book, then one off your TBR..? That's such a dilemma! Happens to me all the time. I just pile up all my books and go "I want to read all of these but I NEED to read this one right now." Some tough decisions to make!

    1. It's definitely going to be a tough decision. I have Truthwitch, Passenger, The Dark Days Club, and The Girl On The Train and I've been waiting forever to read all of them! I guess my copies of Uprooted and A Darker Shade of Magic will have to wait!

  2. Yes, library reads sometimes come in at the worst times! Why can't they just have them when I WANT them? LOL. Anyway luck with your challenge and enjoy your reads. Love the cover of Heir of fire!

    1. Exactly! If they just gave them to me when I had the time... lol. I think I'd be fine if one came in once a month or every two weeks... but no, 6 months worth of holds all in at the same time!

    1. I feel silly sometimes for reading old kids books but I didn't get a chance to read so many of them as a kid and they make a refreshing break between long and dense books. :)

  4. So many cute books! It's hard to resist the shiny new ones. I'm also working on my older TBR list and making some progress. I get discouraged when I see so many there, but I know I'll always be adding more, so I accept my book addiction. LOL Have a wonderful week and happy reading:)

    1. I've had all of my books hiding away in a back room that I turned into my office/library but don't have time to go in there with a toddler so they've been out of sight, out of mind. I brought out a pile to work through so it isn't so overwhelming but I just got a bunch of books in the mail so it's heading in that direction anyway!

I hope you make great progress this month!

  5. I get all my books from the library and sometimes it can definitely be a juggling act with incoming holds. I also do holds for physical books and then also ebooks for my Kindle, so when they both hit it's chaos lol. With the physical books I can usually renew though, whereas the ebooks are 21 days and then they expire. So I always try and read those first :)

    1. I had an ebook for The Girl On The Train come in, too! My library only lets you keep them for 14 days! I already have a couple of ebooks to read already so I'll probably have to wait another 6 months or more for that one again. Probably longer since it's being made into a movie! It really is a juggling act, though!

  8. I feel you with the busy months thing. I feel like my blogging and reading is going to join my writing on the back burner, and I don't want it to! It's hard finding a balance.

The Phantom Tollbooth was my favorite book when I was younger. I remember that being the first book I ever actually called my favorite even. I loved the play on words throughout the whole thing. I've been meaning to reread it and see what it's like now that I'm an adult!

    1. I wish I had read The Phantom Tollbooth as a kid. There are a ton of books that I'm only just reading as an adult and wish I had read years ago such as Roald Dahl. I was so into reading scary stories back then that I missed out on a lot of good books.
