The Sunday Post #34 - Slumps Are No Fun

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer
It's a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog and showcase books and things you received, share news about what is coming up on your blog for the week ahead, and more.

I'm getting a bit tired of telling you guys that I'm in a slump, a funk, or just not feeling 100% lately but that's how this past week has been. I just wasn't motivated to do anything. I guess it's a life slump because I haven't had a book hangover since the beginning of the month. Thankfully, I've been feeling more like myself for the past couple of days and am currently trying to catch up with my to-do list (that I neglected for almost two weeks!) I ended up reading absolutely nothing for the Bout of Books read-a-thon and I never got around to making any new bookmarks for September.
I did get out of the house for a mental health moment and visited a lovely little garden that really helped lift my spirits. Outside of a book, nature is my happy place. My little butterfly and I had a lot of fun exploring.

  1. Love that pic of Sylvester and the bag lol. Cracked me up! I hope Fear The Drowning Deep is good cause I added that one to my TBR after seeing a good review somewhere. Plus the premise sounds cool.

    1. I really do miss those old cartoons! I wish I could say that I loved Fear the Drowning Deep but I think that slump put me in the wrong state of mind for it. It was good but not what I was expecting.

  2. I think sometimes summer and the heat puts us in a funk. I know in the spring and fall I am more likely to take on projects, and feel better.

    1. I do believe you are right, Kim. I've been cooped up in the house because of the rain and heat for too long. Spring and Fall are always my favorite times of year. I can throw the windows wide and get out in the fresh air and it always keeps me invigorated. :)

  3. I'm sorry you've been in a bit of a funk. I'm glad that nature helps relieve some of it though! Don't worry too much about it - it happens to us all! Sometimes stressing about it makes things worse.

    1. Thank you, Lauren! I definitely started stressing a bit on how behind I got on reviews. I'm still trying to catch up but am luckily out of that funk now! :)

  5. I have spent half of August really struggling myself. Then I stress about everything that isn't getting done, which actually makes it worse (because then I do endless audiobook rereads, which is my escape, while getting nothing else done).

    1. Yes, I think the stress of getting behind is the worst. On top of being in the slump in the first place you have to worry about all the things you didn't get around to doing and then it's really overwhelming. Makes me want to just start over from square one despite the obligations I have. Ugh. I'm still trying to catch up but I'll get there sooner or later.
Thanks so much for stopping by! :)

  6. I have a few genres I always turn to when I'm in a slump - sometimes when you're just not feeling reading, you have to go back to basics!
