Only 6 more days until Bout Of Books' week long read-a-thon begins!
Bout Of Books has asked those participating to make a post outlining their goals for the read-a-thon. As I said in my sign-up post, this is my first time participating in a read-a-thon so I don't know what to expect. I'll also be starting my very first online college class on the 13th and I don't know how long that will take me each day to complete. And of course, I have certain obligations around the house, etc that need to be taken care of. BUT I will be dedicating every single bit of free time I have to reading.
I'm still not sure exactly what books I will be reading. I have a hard time choosing any book ahead of schedule and sticking to that choice so I think I will need to give myself some room. I've set aside two piles of books for it, though. One pile is adult lit novels such as 'The Alchemist' by Paulo Coelho and 'Night' by Elie Wiesel. The other pile is middle grade novels that I just haven't had time to read such as 'The Thief Lord' by Cornelia Funke. If I choose to read middle grade novels, one big goal that coincides with it is to read all four 'Books Of Ember' by Jeanne DePrau which a friend gifted to me via Amazon ebook. I read 'City Of Ember' years ago but I'll need to read it again before reading the sequels.

MY GOALS
Join in on a Twitter Chat
Read at least 7-10 books
Keep track of what books I read and how many pages I read daily
Write a quick review for each book I read during the week
Keep in touch with others who are doing this read-a-thon
_______________________________________
That doesn't seem like much but until I actually know how this read-a-thon is going to go, I don't want to put too much pressure on myself.

Thoughts: Today was another really busy day. It was my fiancé's day off so we slept in and went for a long bike ride. Had to do classwork for a couple of hours and 2 hours of counseling. Dinner, etc. It all left me with about 3-4 hours to read. Also, I'm reading The People of Sparks on my desktop's Kindle PC so I couldn't take it with me and read wherever so I had to start a physical copy book (The Thief Lord).

Good luck with your goals! I find it's always hard to choose the books for these read-a-thons as well, I almost always change my list that I choose in advance lol. I think just choose what you feel like reading at the time and you'll have lots more fun :)
ReplyDeleteThank you! I agree. I've been wracking my brain but I just can't seem to settle on any specific books. I'll just give in to my whims when the time comes. :)
Delete7-10 books!! good luck!! I have tried to read that many before and failed.. BOO! This time around I only have 3. Good luck on your reading goals have fun!

My bout of books goals
I probably shouldn't have set it so high because things have come up that will keep me from reading as much as I want to! I'm just gong to blame it on not having done this before! Maybe next year I will have more manageable goals! :)
DeleteWow, good luck getting through 7-10 books. Hope you are able to have an easy week and can knock them out. I always change my list too once I've started. Although the read-a-thon hasn't started officially, I've already been working on my goal list :) Here are my Bout of Books Read-a-thon Goals if you'd like to stop by.
ReplyDeleteWell, I tried but my Norton is blocking your site. :(
DeleteDoesn't seem like much?! Seems like plenty to me! Good luck meeting your goals!
