Tackle Your TBR Read-a-thon

The Tackle Your TBR Read-a-thon is hosted by Wishful Endings

The read-a-thon starts tomorrow, Monday September 12 and ends September 26.

I haven't been doing the best with read-a-thons these days (I didn't finish a single book for Bout of Books 17!) but I'm so behind on my reading right now and maybe what I need is a real push to get out of this slump. I think it will really help that this read-a-thon lasts 2 weeks. We are already almost half way through September and I've only finished one book. So basically I still have my whole September TBR to read. It doesn't really help that I chose a massive book to read this month (Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell) but I'm going to put that on hold for a little while so I get a few books knocked off my list.

A few read-a-thon things that I will put here to help me remember:
- Hashtag: #TackleTBR
Visit the page to keep up with challenges!

Ok, so here are a couple of books that I hope to get around to in the next two weeks:
  • Shadow of the Dark Crystal by J.M. Lee (CR)
  • The Dream (Rahtrum Chronicles) by R.K. McLay
  • Timekeeper by Tara Sim
  • The Cartographer's Daughter by Kiran Millwood Hargrave
  • A Gathering of Shadows of V.E. Schwab
  • Illuminae by Amie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff

I think I'm going to kick up my involvement a notch and force myself to participate in at least one challenge and keep track of my progress (below).

Fantasy Favorites Readathon Sign Up & Goals

Hosted by Olivia's Catastrophe and Inge and Aly from Of Wonderland

This readathon will take place from July 10 - July 18.

There are 3 series that the hosts will be featuring / reading during this readathon and they have challenged everyone to read them as well (but it's not mandatory.) The series are Throne of Glass, Grisha series, and Percy Jackson and the Olympians. The only series I haven't read is the Grisha series but I doubt I'll be able to get the books for that week so I won't be participating in that.

GOALS

While it's not required to read only fantasy, I am going to try to read mostly (if not all) fantasy for this readathon. Summer always puts me in the mood for some good fantasy!

Books I Might Read
(I'm putting this up a little early so there is a chance that I will read these before the readathon. I will delete those and add more if that is the case.)

I hope to read at least 4 of these books but some are much longer than others so it depends on what I'm reading at the time, I guess. I'm just going to go with the flow and skip all the pressure.

How about you? Are you participating in this readathon? Or perhaps the Make Me Read It Readathon instead?

Bout of Books 16 Wrap Up

The Bout of Books read-a-thon is organized by Amanda @ On A Book Bender and Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal. It is a week long read-a-thon that begins 12:01 am Monday, May 9th and runs through Sunday, May 15th in whatever timezone you are in. Bout of Books is low pressure. There are challenges, giveaways, and a grand prize but all of these are completely optional. For all Bout of Books 16 information and updates, be sure to visit the Bout of Books blog. - From the Bout of Books Team

Ok, so I meant to keep a log of my daily progress but that didn't happen. I have no idea how many pages I read each day. But I did read quite a few books.

I was at 52% in The Glass Castle when the readathon started so I'm not going to pretend like I read the whole book this week but progress is progress! I read about 122 pages.

BOOKS STARTED & FINISHED

- The Book of Lost Things by Cynthia Voight (374 pages)
- Tru & Nelle by G. Neri (336 pages)
- Fairest by Marissa Meyer (220 pages)
- Skeleton Island by Angie Sage (224 pages)

Books Started But Didn't Finish

-The Girl Who Drank the Moon by Kelly barnhill - I read 36% of this 400 page book. (144 pages)
-Winter by Marissa Meyer - I was able to read 205 pages

Total Pages Read: 1625

That's actually pretty good considering I usually only read about 50-100 pages a day. I probably would have done a lot better but Sunday was a busy out of the house family day and I didn't get to read at all.

Bout of Books was the very first readathon I ever participated in on this blog (and ever) so I make a point to join in every one that I can. I love week long readathons because there's just enough time to read as much as I can with a busy schedule and still get plenty of reading done and possibly finish a few books! It is great motivation and a lot of fun.

GOALS

I'm participating in the Clean Sweep ARC challenge so I have a few arcs to read as well as a few other books that I would love to read this month. I'm confident that I will read at least 5 books during this read-a-thon.

The Books I Will Probably Read This Week
subject to change

Hopefully I can make time to join in on some of the challenges as well!

Are you planning on participating? If you are, let me know and I will stop by and cheer you on!

Dewey's 24 Hour Readathon

I meant to post this sooner but I spent most of my time last night creating my new blog header so I'm behind, as usual.

I am currently participating in this since it's past 8am and am taking a little reading break to catch up on listing my goals, what I'm reading, and do the mini challenges. I am only going to make this one post and update it throughout the day with my progress and my wrap up.

Goals
I never really do good with short read-a-thons but I am determined to try and finish The Dark Days Club by Alison Goodman (left off at page 302 out of 482) and read Grayling's Song by Karen Cushman (224 pages) in it's entirety today.

Challenges

Intro Meme
1. What part of the world are you reading from?
Florida, but nowhere near a beach.
2. Which book in your stack are you most looking forward to?
I'm hoping to finish The Dark Days Club so I can start Assassin's Blade or Cress.
3. Which snack are you most looking forward to?
Cookies but I don't have any. :(
4. Tell us a little something about yourself!
I have a toddler who isn't going to let me read much today.
5. First readathon? What are you looking forward to?
Nap time! It's probably going to be the only part of the day that I get some uninterrupted reading time.
(I decided to do the challenges in the comments of the posts like everyone else!)
----------
Interruptions!
Ok, so my darling little daughter decided that today was the day to only take a 25 minute nap ONCE. Usually she takes 2 naps and they are least an hour each. And because she refused the second nap she was super fussy and wanted all of my attention! But I put her to bed early (by 8)  and was able to finish The Dark Days Club and get half way through Grayling's Song.

WRAP UP

1. The Dark Days Club by Alison Goodman (180 pages read during the RaT)
2. Grayling's Song by Karen Cushman (___ pages)

Hiding In Books Readathon Sign Up & Goals

The lovely Annika from Hiding in Books is hosting an impromptu readathon for those of us who don't really have plans this Easter weekend (or if you do have plans and can still make plenty of time to read. Or just a little time. Whatever works for you!)!

I will not be visiting family (they all have the flu!) and hubby has to work so it will just be me and Lovebug. We will be 'celebrating' and doing Lovebug's first Easter egg hunt on Monday so that leaves the weekend open for me to fit in reading whenever I can.

My goals aren't big but I'd like to finish at least two books.

I started 'The Girl With All The Gifts' (physical book) this morning and would like to finish it this weekend if I can and will be starting 'Ready Player One' (ebook) tonight once Lovebug falls asleep.
(I'm a two books at a time kind of girl these days!)

And if by any chance I do finish those two books, here are my backup choices!

Why bother with a readathon if I'm not planning on reading a ton? Because I love readathons! They are great motivation and a fun way to interact with other readers!

Love For Books Readathon

The 3rd annual Love For Books Readathon is hosted by Novel Heartbeat

This read-a-thon runs from Monday, February 8th through Sunday, February 14th.

You can find out more about this challenge and sign up HERE

I've been on the lookout for another readathon since the beginning of January and this couldn't have come at a better time. I need motivation to get through the books I'm reading! Something about February puts me in a bit of a slump. All the excitement of the new year has worn off, I guess.

I hope to read at least 3-4 books during this week.

I need to finish Cogling and City of Thirst and I don't have anything specific lined up after that unless I finally get some of the books I have on hold or something becomes available through Overdrive. If not, I may start a classic to pass the time.
