June 2017 Wrap Up

I started listening to audiobooks through my library's Overdrive app this month. I find myself with less and less time to read physical books so being able to listen while I clean the house, run errands, etc has been so helpful. I read/listened to a total of 5 books in June! That's not much but better than I did in April or May.

Book Blast & $50 Giveaway: Dating the It Guy by Krysten Lindsay Hager

Dating the It Guy by Krysten Lindsay Hager
Emme is a sophomore in high school who starts dating, Brendon Agretti, the popular senior who happens to be a senator's son and well-known for his good looks. Emme feels out of her comfort zone in Brendon's world and it doesn't help that his picture perfect ex, Lauren seems determined to get back into his life along with every other girl who wants to be the future Mrs. Agretti. Emme is already conflicted due to the fact her last boyfriend cheated on her and her whole world is off kilter with her family issues. Life suddenly seems easier keeping Brendon away and relying on her crystals and horoscopes to guide her. Emme soon starts to realize she needs to focus less on the stars and more on her senses. Can Emme get over her insecurities and make her relationship work? Life sure is complicated when you're dating the it guy.

Excerpt: I took a drink of water, and it dribbled down my chin. Lovely—I was sure all the girls at the country club drooled openly. Brendon walked over to my side of the court and asked if he could have some of my water because he had finished his sports drink. I never share drinks since I saw a story on the news about how meningitis was spread through stuff like that, but I handed him the bottle. I was surprised he’d want to drink after me, but maybe he was a step away from dehydrating, and it was between sharing my spit or death. “Wanna quit?” he asked. I nodded and went to change. There was only one other girl in the locker room as I washed up and pulled my hair up. I went out to meet Brendon, and he asked if I wanted to get some frozen yogurt. I started to answer when the girl in the locker room came out behind me. “Hey, stranger. Haven’t seen you around lately,” she said, putting her hand on Brendon’s arm. “Hey, Cassie,” he said. “What have you been up to?” she asked. I’ve seen dogs chase the mail carrier with more dignity. Brendon shrugged and said he had been busy. He introduced me, and her eyes darted over to me just long enough to size me up. I hated girls who acted like having another female in the room was competition. “Well, give me a call sometime,” she said, walking away. What was her problem? She didn’t know whether or not we were dating. It was like it didn’t matter if I was his girlfriend or not because I wasn’t “good enough.”

Top Ten Tuesday #108 - Best Books I've Read So Far in 2017

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish

Top Ten Best Books I've Read So Far in 2017

I've only read 29 books so far this year so some of these are 4 star reads.

1. A Conjuring Of Light by VE Schwab - I just finished this and already have my review up. I love these books sooo much!
2. & 3. ACOMAF & ACOWAR by Sarah J. Maas - I didn't love ACOTAR but ACOMAF and ACOWAR were 4 & 5 star reads.

4. Outlander by Diana Gabaldon - I don't usually read romance but I do really enjoy historical fiction. Nevertheless, I loved this book!
5. Gemina by Amie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff - Illuminae was amazing and Gemina was just as good or better. I'm impatiently awaiting Obsidio!
6. The Dragon's Price by Bethany Wiggins - I actually had a ton of issues with this one but I still enjoyed parts of it.

7. Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them by J.K. Rowling - I wish this was an actual novel and not a screenplay, but how could I not still love it?
8. The Falconer by Elizabeth May - I actually had a hard time getting into this at first but once I did, I was hooked and ended up loving it. I'm currently waiting on the second book to start!
9. Norse Mythology by Neil Gaiman - I think I expected more from this but still really enjoyed it.

10. A Gathering of Ravens by Scott Oden - I'm only halfway through this one but it deserves to be on this list. It's full of Norse mythology, blood and death, and monsters! So far, so good!

How about you? What are your top favorite books so far this year?

The Sunday Post #66 - Summer Days

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer
It's a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog and showcase books and things you received, share news about what is coming up on your blog for the week ahead, and more.

It's been a pretty normal week around here.
It rains some days. It's hot as heck on others. Humidity levels are horrible. We've been taking dips in the pool on hot days.

The garden is starting to suffer from the heat and the excess rain. It's about time to just let it go until autumn. It's so hard to grow anything during the summer here in Florida. I did have two of my sunflowers bloom, though! :)

READ IT FIRST: Book to Movie Adaptations (July 2017 +)

It's time to update my master list of adaptations!
I love keeping up with these because I do prefer to read the book first and this really helps me stay up to date on what is coming out in the future so I can squeeze it onto my TBR.

I'm really slacking this year and have a lot of catching up to do but that just means I have to put off watching the movie until I get around to the book.
